Directions: The take-out is down by the bridge at Routes 97 and 31. To get to the
put in drive north on Route 31 and take a right onto Rio Dam Road. This will take you to dam and the put-in, below Rio Reservoir.
Description/hazards: The river is not a very good play river with very little
play opportunity. There are some deep pools for squirting and a hole at 1 tube
at the put in. The warm water, summer releases, and the fact that paddlers have
had to put so much blood into opening this up, and keeping it that way. As
recently 2002 this river was again closed to paddlers, this time because of
"homeland security". Enjoy the scenery and the water, all the/way down to the
Delaware River. There dense woods lining the banks and just enough rocks to keep
things interesting. This river is a great training ground and also a great way
to beat the heat in the summertime. The rapids are pretty continuous class II
and easy III all the way down to the Delaware.
